GDC 08: EPOQ Neuroheadset Demo

The first company I talked to was Emotiv Systems. Their EPOQ neuroheadset was at GDC last year, but this year, they were showing off an operational, game-integrated system and I got a chance to run through a demo that made me feel like a superhero. The hardware consists of a sort of headband with a bunch of spidery sensors that are placed on your scalp in specific places. Unlike an EEG, there’s no conductive paste necessary, and the sensors are padded. Initial setup for a new user took all of 30 seconds, although much more detailed calibration is possible, and the finer the calibration, the finer the control the headset is capable of.

The demo was pretty straightforward, but highly effective at illustrating the possibilities of the EPOQ technology. Using an XBox 360 controller, I went through a course which taught me to focus my brainwaves to accomplish goals. For example, I could scare off little sprite things by growling at them, as the EPOQ could sense that I was clenching my jaw muscles. It’s not just sensing muscle signaling, though… I was also able to levitate a rock by relaxing my mind, and then doing nothing but focusing on lifting the rock. That’s all. I sat there, looking at the rock on the monitor, and just willed it to lift, and it lifted! I was completely blown away, and me describing it here doesn’t do it justice, it’s something you need to experience firsthand. Yeah, I know that doesn’t help you much, but since it’s an entirely mental exercise, it’s not something that comes across effectively in video or pictures, although I took some video anyway. Keep in mind that this guy isn’t using any physical controls, all he’s doing is thinking about lifting that rock

Dubbio vs. Volontà

Lo statuto del dubbio è ormai insito. Si può sfuggirne? A voi, che io osservo, piacerebbe farvi notare numerose cose. A volte, se non sempre, tutto dovrebbe accadere in maniera semplice, e oltretutto non v'è un modo giusto di compiere, ma numerosi infiniti giusti, l'unico fattore determinante è la volontà. Ma da cosa dipende quindi la volontà? forse è insita, forse va ricercata, forse è un dono di pochi. Rapportandosi a l'altro le differenze emergono, e rmanete sempre sconvolti quando vi accorgete che il proprio sistema non è il migliore..come dire, altri tipi di volontà riescono a compiere in modi che voi o altri, tra alti e bassi non riuscireste a intraprendere. Così dal dubbio all'evenienza ogni tutto è risolvibile, tramite volontà che come strada percorribile intrapresa o tuttora da battere può essere insegnata appresa e compresa. Così ciò che pare insormontabile o importantemente effimero può essere sorpassato o evitato con semplicità sorprendente se sia gira il proprio, a favore di un'altro punto di vista. Il dubbio, di pari passo con la volontà, se si ha l'umiltà di impararla e coglierla da altri o dal tutto, è pari a nulla. Il compiere è, nel modo più assoluto, semplice.

Lady Sovereign sfiora la perfezione ha tutto è carina spacca ha un sound spaventoso ha un aura un carisma una forza un talento fuori dal comune..spicca come un bagliore di necessità sonora..voce massiva, invasiva indiscreta. Spacca ciò che vuole strugge mi colpisce ad ogni secondo che passa. Ogni rima spacca ogni tono sussulta innovativa sensi imbecilli che escono da una personalità che potrebbe esprimere qualsiasi cosa. Talento, vero.

Moto Dimenticate

Non capisco perchè in italia si producano delle moto di fattura tecnica bellezza carisma velocità ingegno totalmente unici. Nessuna altro ne produce di simili eppure nessuno le compra. Sarà che hanno prezzi proibitivi, ma è un falso problema, poichè se nessuno le compra il prezzo rimane alto, se invece qualcuno di quelli che hanno la possibilità ne acquistasse qualcuna in più - mica tante, basterebbe comprarne qualche centinaio - il prezzo comincerebbe a scendere piano piano, come dimostra l'esperienza della ducati, marchio misconosciuto e dimenticato per lungo tempo, ma anche della americana buell. Pallidi abitanti di uno spazio tempo chiamato Italia.
Noi qui queste cose non le capiamo. E' totalmente assurdo produrre macchine del genere per lasciarle nel dimenticatoio..tutti le sognano, ma tutti comprano le honde nella realtà. Questo scarto tra desiderio e poi effettivo compimento nella realtà è davvero irritante, le moto più belle e curate e avveneristiche e piene di Anima, che nella vita che parte da un punto A ad un punto B di una persona diventa una squallida Honda, una piatta Suzuki, una stonata Yamaha, una monotona Kawasaki.
